How it works

Three steps, and the books never move.

  1. Step 01

    Your client approves your firm

    Send your client a connection link. They see your firm’s name and approve access before you see anything.

  2. Step 02

    Their books connect, read-only

    From QuickBooks Online: profit and loss, balance sheet, trial balance and general ledger. From Zoho Books: account balances and manual journals. Zemba reads these and never writes back.

  3. Step 03

    You prepare the monthly review

    Compare this month’s posted activity with last month, add commentary, save versions and send them to a colleague for review. Export the working paper to Excel.

Zee, the AI assistant

Ask about a client’s books. Check every answer.

Zee works from the reports pulled from QuickBooks or Zoho. Each figure shows which system it came from and when it was fetched, so you can trace it back before it goes in front of a client.

Control stays with you and your client

  • Read-only connections. Zemba does not change your clients’ books.
  • Nothing connects until the client approves your firm.

Questions accountants ask

Do my clients have to move off QuickBooks or Zoho?
No. Their books stay where they are. Zemba connects to them and reads the reports it needs.
Can Zemba change anything in my clients’ books?
No. The connection is used for reads only. Intuit’s consent screen asks for a broader accounting permission, but Zemba does not post, edit or delete anything in QuickBooks or Zoho.
Which accounting software does it work with?
QuickBooks Online and Zoho Books, including Zoho’s Canadian region. Xero is not supported yet.
Who is the pilot for?
Small accounting and bookkeeping practices in the Toronto area whose clients use QuickBooks Online or Zoho Books. We are looking for practices that will tell us plainly what works and what is missing.
